Public Speaking:

The following speech was given at Providence Day School's "Leadership and Loyalty" dinner. By the end of the fiscal year, we would raise over 1 million dollars for the first time in the school's history.

  • Forward leaning parallelograms signify an new era of progress at the university
  • Liberator Bold font conveys a sense of optimism and fearlessness
  • The dramatic background image of NYC at night draw the viewer's eye
  • The branding of alumni chapters as "networks" rather than "clubs" or "chapters" puts emphasis on career services, complimentary membership, and autonomous relationship with the worldwide GW Alumni Association
  • Featuring the regional hashtag allows alumni to create an online community around the city, and allow us to track the conversation

Strategic Communications Planning:

  • Alumna Kerry Washington ended her 2013 commencement speech by saying "welcome to the club."
  • Six hours later, an email from the GW Alumni Association president congratulated the class of 2013. It reminded them of Ms. Washington's words and featured the photo below, which was also shared via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • This approach has led to a sustained CTR 50% higher than that of the class of 2012
